New high-floor light rail vehicles with technology by Vossloh Kiepe for Bielefeld

MoBiel GmbH, Bielefeld has placed their order to Vossloh Kiepe and Heiterblick for delivery of 16 high-floor light rail vehicles. This shows their trust in the flexibility and partnership qualities of medium-sized businesses when it comes to renewing their vehicle fleet.

The vehicles will be delivered between January 2011 and July 2012. The order contains an option for up to 25 additional light rail vehicles.

The approximately 34-meter-long, triple sectioned two direction vehicles have 4 motor bogies, doors with hinged steps, air-conditioned driver's area and passenger compartment, as well as a very modern passenger information system.

As consortium leader, Vossloh Kiepe is responsible for managing the entire project and will provide the electric equipment for the vehicles.

Among other things, this includes the control level, the traction system as well as the on-board power system.

The street car construction company of Heiterblick in Leipzig are responsible for the mechanical part and will also carry out the final assembly of the vehicles at their factory.
