The Olympic Games in Athens in 2004 have forced the introduction of modern, reliable and environment-friendly public transport vehicles.
The Athens transport authority, ILPAP, decided on 96 low-floor trolleybuses from Neoplan´s N6014 series with a vehicle body from the Greek ELBO.

The trolleybus is dimensioned for 96 passengers, it is fully air conditioned and meets the latest safety standards, even with a third electrical insulation in the door area.
The vehicles receive their overhead contact line autonomy via a 50 kW strong diesel generator unit. They are provided with Kiepe´s state-of-the-art, three-phase electrical traction equipment. As they were to offer visual stimuli for the passengers, too, the colour scheme of the vehicles is designed by the well-known Greek designer Tseklenis.
The remarkable design is supported by Kiepe´s new roof equipment container. Paulussen, a design office in Düsseldorf, is responsible for the design of the dynamically curved roof surface of the vehicles.

The equipment under the patented design cover, can be opened from both sides, is in keeping with the present state of the art and sets the standard in respect of compactness. The IGBT traction inverter, the electronic drive/brake control unit, the static on-board converter, the converter for the air conditioning system, the network filter, the EMC filter and much more are integrated within this roof equipment container.

Moreover, the Kiepe on-board information and control system on a CAN basis helped much to reduce the vehicle cabling and made maintenance easier for the operator because of the increased diagnostic possibilities via PC; it is within reach for Kiepe at all times via a modem or via the Internet.

Furthermore, the acquisition of operational data, the data recorder and the analytical functions, which are normal for Kiepe, underline the possibilities of a promising state-of-the-art, public transport mode.
