Reequipping Bremen’s GT8N tram vehicles

From 1993 to 1996, Vossloh Kiepe supplied the electrical equipment for 78 GT8N tram vehicles for Bremen’s tram operator BSAG. All the vehicles were equipped with what was the latest GTO technology then available. To ensure a continuing supply of replacement parts, the system switched to IGBT technology in 2008.

This changeover permitted the introduction of highly advanced technology while retaining a large proportion of the drive components that had been in successful operation many years.
