Historic vehicles of the Pöstlingbergbahn mountain railway in Linz

Delivery: 2009-2010

Operated by the Austrian city of Linz, the Pöstlingbergbahn, a listed monument, is the world’s steepest adhesion railway with an average gradient of 10.7%. For the three two-axle vehicles, Vossloh Kiepe supplied the 3-phase drive system, the on-board power system supply and the remaining electrical equipment from 2009 to 2010.

Because of the line’s steep gradients, the vehicles require more powerful motors. The drive inverters, brake equipment and on-board power system supply are installed in a redundant setup, which poses a real challenge on a two-axle vehicle with a length of only 8.30 m.
