B100S light rail vehicles for Bonn’s public transport authority
Delivery: 2010-2016
Between 2010 and 2016 altogether 25 B100S light rail vehicles are being refurbished for the Bonn public transport authority, SWB. These B-series vehicles were built between 1974 and 1977 and are therefore in need of rejuvenation. The key components are the new DC choppers, with two on each railcar ousting the previous combined cam switch mechanisms.
Two new onboard inverters, driver compartment air conditioning, a new heating controller and new instrument panels are being fitted to the vehicles. The refurbishment includes electronic componentry such as closed-circuit video surveillance, emergency call points for passengers, a fire alarm system and a tachograph. 750-V DC rewiring completes the package.
